My motivation to attend my first KC course was the desire to learn more about my horses' hooves. Having 5 horses of my own, one of them being chronically foundered, I felt I needed to take some responsibility for their foot care.

I trimmed my own for a year before I decided I needed to gain a more in-depth understanding of the hoof’s form, function and the route to optimum health. This led to part time study toward qualifying as an EP. Since qualifying I have found working as an EP incredibly rewarding.

I have had to cut back on the area I cover to concentrate on working locally. I now work closely with Shuna Shaw, a local horse trainer, my fellow EP Beady Charlton and a supportive local vet in taking on rehabilitation cases.

I have also qualified as an Equine Body Worker and can offer Equine Sports Massage when needed. I am a member of the IEBWA (the International Equine Body Worker Association www.iebwa.com)

Area covered: Highlands & Islands of Scotland
