How to Become an EP

Equine Podiatry is a good trade for anyone who wants to work with horses and is looking for a physical job. Although no-one ever got rich trimming horses’ feet, you can make a living as an EP if you are prepared to work hard.

EP training is provided by a separate company, Equine Podiatry Training Ltd which has been set up specifically to provide a qualification in Equine Podiatry that meets the highest standards in the UK. This is a two year, part time qualification at the end of which successful students are awarded a Diploma in Equine Podiatry. The course is a mixture of taught classroom work, home study and mentored case studies. Further details of the course can be found here.

Once qualified, EPs need to do further training each year (called Continuing Professional Development) in order to remain on the register of full association members.
