I came into the world of horses later in life, while working at a local animal sanctuary. What began as a general husbandry role soon developed into a more specialised path, as I moved through various departments and eventually became a veterinary assistant and horse handler. It was during this time that I was trained in barefoot trimming by a local farrier, to help meet the growing needs of the sanctuary’s herd. Over ten years of hands-on experience later, I discovered the Equine Podiatry Association (EPA) and their training school, Equine Podiatry Training (EPT). It was exactly what I’d been looking for to deepen my knowledge and formalise my skills, and I’ve never looked back. Two years of hard work and dedication led to me qualifying with a Level 5 Diploma in Equine Podiatry, the highest barefoot hoof care qualification available in the UK, Ofqual-recognised and Lantra-certified. I’m currently the only practitioner based in Norfolk with this level of training. Running my own private practice had been a dream since those early days at the sanctuary, and now I’m proud to be living that dream. I get to help horses live healthier, more comfortable lives every day.
