Like a lot of other EP’s I came into the profession by way of my own horse (who came down with acute laminitis in the middle of winter when he had no access to grass). My farrier advised that he could make my horse comfortable by applying shoes, but in order to find and fix the cause I’d need to employ an EP. There was nobody local to me and I was desperate to help my horse, so I found myself spending every free moment researching different causes of laminitis. This eventually led me to the UK Diploma in Equine Podiatry.Prior to the course I worked in the forensics industry, but in 2011 a lot of the UK’s forensic work went overseas, so this was the perfect opportunity for a career change. I have to say it was the best decision I ever made and I’m so pleased to find myself helping horses for a living.I live on a farm in Warwickshire with a mixed herd of Highland, Welsh and Shetland ponies.
