Lack of hoof care is a welfare issue to individual equines and therefore whilst it is safe and legal to do so, the EPA suggests that its members continue to provide equine podiatry services to their clients. The EPA recognises the importance of reducing disease transmission, and therefore suggests clients take the following precautions to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 during necessary hoof care appointments.
We have also issued our members with decision making tools to determine whether it is wise to continue with appointments for a period of time. We will be monitoring the situation carefully and updating our members as things develop.
