Having ridden since I was 9, I always intended to work with horses, but after graduating with a BSc Hons Degree in Equine Science and Management I found myself following a very different path. Something was always missing though, so when a friend and I were discussing the struggle to find an available Equine Podiatrist and she jokingly suggested I train to do it myself, a spark was ignited and now here I am.

I feel I’ve finally found the career I was destined for. I particularly enjoy the process of transitioning horses out of shoes, providing the feet with the parameters necessary to become the healthiest they can be. Working with nervous horses to gain their trust and build confidence is another aspect of the job I find incredibly satisfying.

I’ve had my horse Spencer since he was 4 years old, but he’s now getting on in years and is pretty much retired. I was gifted Chico in 2024 when his only companion sadly passed away. At age 12 and unbacked, introducing him to ridden work will be my next big project.
