EQUINE PODIATRY
Equine Podiatrists are hoof care specialists who take a holistic approach to unshod hoof health. Working closely with owners, veterinarians and para-veterinary professionals such as body workers and trainers, Equine Podiatrists aim to achieve the healthiest hooves by considering species specific diet, exercise and environment management appropriate to the equine, taking into account their age history and any ongoing pathologies. Equine Podiatrists can work with horses, mules, donkeys and any other equine.
Equine Podiatrists may recommend the use of hoof boots and pads for rehabilitation and wear management, and many can also help owners with boot fitting and selection, but they cannot affix any permanent hoof protection as this must only be carried out by registered farriers or veterinarians.
All Equine Podiatrists are qualified and insured and conduct annual CPD.

EP training is provided by a separate company, Equine Podiatry Training Ltd which has been set up specifically to provide a Diploma in Equine Podiatry that meets the highest national standards. The course is a mixture of practical, classroom work, home study and mentored case studies. Further details of the course can be found here.
