National Occupational Standards for Equine Hoof Care
National Occupational Standards (NOS) are nationally recognised statements that describe the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to perform a job role or occupational function competently.
The standards for equine hoof care were first developed in 2010 with representatives from across the industry, including Lantra, Equine Sciences Academy, AANHCP, EPA UK, IAEP, farriers, the FRCVS Registrar, the Farriers Registration Council (as a guest), UKNHCP and the Farriery Training Agency.
The NOS define what good performance looks like in the workplace. They are often used to support professional standards frameworks, qualifications, regulation and professional recognition schemes.
Each NOS is a separate standard, but together they form a suite defining the skills and knowledge required to work as an Equine Podiatrist.
